Knoff Group Presents: Our Favorite Cocktail Lounges in Bozeman and the Surrounding Areas

Southwest Montana offers some surprisingly great cocktail lounges. Some feature vintage décor with low-lit ambiance while others have a more polished, modern vibe. Please enjoy Knoff Group Real Estate’s list of some of our favorite cocktail lounges in Bozeman and surrounding area.

#1 – PLONK Wine Bar is a popular spot in downtown Bozeman for wines by the glass, handcrafted cocktails, and globally inspired dining. Whether you sit at a high-top or get comfy on their sofas, Plonk is the place to go to enjoy a drink in low-lit ambiance any day of the week. Their most popular drink may be the GFC. If you’re so inclined, they have a great Happy Hour every day from 3pm-5pm & 10:30-midnight.

#2 –Devil’s Toboggan is located on the second floor of a restored factory in the historic Cannery District in Bozeman. It’s a great stop before or after a delicious experience at Seven Sushi – the restaurant below. As you enter Devil’s Toboggan, you’ll be taken back in time to the golden age of cocktails – this place has a relaxed, speakeasy environment. We recommend their ‘In the Moon’ cocktail paired with a delicious Smorgas Board appetizer.

#3 – Sky Shed is a rooftop bar located in the Kimpton Armory Hotel in downtown Bozeman. Sky Shed offers a variety of specialty cocktails, wines & beers, as well as yummy shareable plates. During the winter, you can warm up by the fire pit or reserve one of their heated outdoor igloos to keep warm while still enjoying the view.

#4 – J & Company Bar features crafted cocktails, a relaxed atmosphere, and even live comedy and music. Located in downtown Bozeman on Main Street with a lounge-like setting, it’s a great place to unwind from a day of recreation or shopping. Try the Spotted Black Bear Margarita – delish!

#5 – The Cannery is a Bozeman classic – whether you want to enjoy a Cats game or mingle with friends. It’s located on Main Street in downtown Bozeman and has been locally owned and operated in the same location since 1982. Old school décor, affordable drinks and no nonsense service – it’s a genuine piece of old Bozeman and we hope it stays around forever.

#6 – Single Barrel Liquor & Bar doubles as a liquor store and full-service bar. Locally owned and operated, Single Barrel is located in the Ferguson Farm development on the west side of Bozeman, and provides a laid-back environment and a great cocktail experience – with a curated collection of over 200 bottles. They currently feature live local music on Saturday nights.

#7 – Copper Whiskey Bar & Grill is a great spot to enjoy a Montana burger and hand-crafted cocktail. With locations in both Big Sky and Bozeman, locals love Copper for their burger + a beer special every Wednesday night. As their motto says, “Come for the food, stay for the whiskey.”

#8 – Tune Up – Bozeman’s best basement bar located in the lower level of the Kimpton Armory hotel. We recommend trying their Mushroom & Gruyere Black Angus burger paired with their signature BZN Loma cocktail. Make sure to stay up to date on events and live music by checking out Tune Up’s website – there is never a cover charge!

#9 – The Owl Lounge is located in downtown Livingston – about a 25-minute drive from Bozeman. Enjoy your favorite cocktail, craft beer, or one of their special martinis at the Owl Lounge after a long day. While the inside is decked out and cozy during the winter months, they have a fantastic patio open during the summer months as well.

#10 – If you’re looking for an adventure, head over to The Jawbone in White Sulphur Springs – located about an hour and a half outside of Bozeman. Trust us, this cocktail lounge and eatery that gives off hardcore speakeasy vibes is not to miss. With a variety of appetizers, entrees, and hand-crafted cocktails – you’ll be itching to come back to this hidden gem.
