Montana is known for top quality beef and finding a steakhouse in the Bozeman area is not a difficult task, but some rise above the others. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind Montana steakhouse experience, read on. Below is a list of some of our favorite places to enjoy local cuts grown under the Big Sky.
#9 – The Local American Saloon is the perfect place to grab a drink with friends, watch a game and treat yourself to a phenomenal steak. Located off Main Street in Belgrade, The Local offers a variety of delicious steaks. We recommend the 18 oz Porterhouse, soaked in their creamy steak sauce or their 12oz Ribeye that never disappoints. If you’re not feeling a steak, they have a variety of other American cuisine options.
#8 – Urban Kitchen is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing atmosphere restaurant in downtown Bozeman. They offer a variety of steaks, from a Ribeye to a Wild West NY strip, and don’t forget our favorite – their 8oz charred Filet Mignon over spiced broccolini. Or feed your entire table with their Tomahawk – dramatic bone attached. Urban Kitchen will not disappoint!
#7 – Rib and Chop House, with locations in both Livingston and Bozeman, is home to premium steaks, fresh seafood and award-winning baby back ribs. If you’re looking for a Montana casual eatery, Rib and Chop House is the place for you. If you’re feeling dessert after, they make a delicious Crème Brûlée (you’re welcome).
#6 – Ted’s Montana Grill has one Montana location, located on Main Street in downtown Bozeman. Co-founded by local landowner, bison rancher and media mogul Ted Turner, Ted’s offers both beef cuts and delicious bison cuts. We recommend the Bison Delmonico Ribeye, seasoned and finished with lemon butter.
#5 – The Land of Magic is in Logan off intestate exit 283, about 30 minutes from Bozeman. This local family-owned restaurant is worth the drive, offering juicy rib-eye, top sirloin, fillet, prime rib, you name it! The Land of Magic is known for their famous top-secret seasoning that brings out the natural flavors of their fine-cut steaks.
#4 – If you’re looking for a sizzling steak after a relaxing soak, Chico Hot Springs in Pray, Montana is the place to go. About an hour from Bozeman, Chico offers some of the best fine dining in Montana, with much of the produce coming from their own garden. Their historic dining room offers a variety of juicy steaks, our favorite being their Gorgonzola Filet Mignon that is hand-rubbed with toasted fennel. Chico’s dining room is also one of the few places in Montana that has been awarded the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence.
#3 – Bozeman’s Brasserie-Inspired Steakhouse, Open Range, provides an unforgettable experience, serving the finest cuts of meat in Bozeman. Located on Main Street, the cozy leather booths and soft lighting offer an intimate experience. Pair that with age-old wine and an 8 oz Wagyu Sirloin and your night can’t be beat.
#2 – Sir Scott’s Oasis Steakhouse is a one-of-a-kind local favorite. Located in Manhattan, it boasts a casual western atmosphere with quality food and friendly service. We recommend the prime rib or steak fingers.
They do not have a website, but reservations are highly recommended: 406-284-6929
#1 – The Mint Café and Bar is an iconic steakhouse in the Gallatin Valley, located on Main Street in Belgrade. If you’re looking for an upscale, authentic, well-lit dining experience, this is the place to go. They offer a plethora of hand-cut steaks with various in-house sauces, along with a prime rib special Friday and Saturday nights. Great steak, great atmosphere with fun old black and white photos from back in the day, great wine and cocktails!
