If everything lines up, Central Valley Fire District is looking to scrap its downtown fire station and build a new one on airport ground without taking on any debt, Fire Chief Ron Lindroth told a joint meeting of Belgrade and Central Valley officials Monday.Lindroth said with the new Interstate 90 interchange being constructed on the city’s east side, the fire agency should capitalize and build a new station that would be better connected to the district and the city.During the recent renovation of the Main Street firehouse, contractors said the station had a limited lifespan due to structural roofline issues.Lindroth said he has been talking with Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport Director Brian Sprenger about obtaining three acres to build a new station on airport ground. The chief will approach the Airport Authority next month for a tire-kicking session.
